Education ( Balsakhi Project )

The Project “Promotion of Quality Education in Project catchment area’s/ elementary School” aims to improve the quality education with a focus on Right to Education Act 2009 and five dimensions of child friendly schools It is in this direction that the project looks forward to pilot Child Friendly School framework in the project catchment areas schools. The project focuses upon the schools in the intervention areas.

With regards to quality education the project seeks to develop and perform on the key components of child friendly schools. Moreover, retention, bridging of gender and social category gaps in education and enhancement of learning levels of children in the age group of 5yrs-14yrs. Community participation will be central and an overarching factor in the project. It is in this direction that the participation of the parents, community, teachers and children will be enhanced by generating awareness among the said stakeholders. School development plans will be prepared and submitted to the school authorities and government for availing them as per the norms of Right to Education Act. Participation of the children in the governance of the school and their self development will be carried out through establishment and strengthening of Child Council and thereby paving a way for making the school child friendly and child centered.

Girls Education Project

Dropout rate of secondary level school children is increasing year on year, for recent the year 2017-18 it was 17.01% for Pune. There are many adults who are dropped out at secondary level of school education due to various reasons. Low education level has badly impacted on their career prospects and causing unemployment especially among women.

To deal with this problem Pratham Shikshan Mandal (PSM) Pune has been conducting Girls Education program last 15 years and encouraging and educating dropped out persons to complete Secondary School Certificate Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education externally by applying through form no. 17. Till date it has helped 1477 girls and women to pass the SSC examination successfully through this intervention. This year PSM aim to accommodate 100 students for enrollment in HADAPSAR area of Pune city. PSM has its own infrastructure at three locations to conduct classes with qualified teaching staff. To take care of expenses such as wages of teachers and staff, administrative expenses involved in this activity PSM needs funds from individuals, corporates / companies.

Goals and Objectives:
Goal of PSM is “Every girl & women’s in education prose’s, every girl is well Educated

Objective of this programme is to guide and coach secondary level school dropped out persons to succeed in Secondary School Certificate Examination.

Need of the Programme
According to Department of School Education and Sports, Government of Maharashtra, the secondary level school dropout rate has increased to 12.44% in the year 2022-23 from 11.17% in the year 2023-24. The high dropout rate in PUNE HADAPSAR (19.27%), districts need special attention and intervention.

Library Program

The objective of library project is to inculcate reading habits and increase knowledge of the children. Participation of parents in the educational movement

Each library serves about 100 homes irrespective of size of the community. To track the progress of children, the libraries issue cards of different colors to children indicating number of books, read. A nominal fee of Rs 5/- per month per child is charged, mainly to create feeling of participation and partly to cover the cost. In each library there will be around 350 & above books, various books on subjects like General Knowledge, Historical, Geographical, Discovery books, English Mathematical, Short stories, Poems etc. are made available which motivate& inculcate reading habits in children. Few of which have been designed by us and others are selectively purchased from outside. The teacher (Balsakhi) keeps proper record of each child in the given register. In addition to this many other activities such as story telling, drawing, essay writing, elocution, rangoli competition etc. are conducted.

There are several adults, especially ladies, who have passed from 8th to 10 std. but are not able to make further progress due to various reasons. There is a demand from several of the residents to start projects like Libraries so that they can utilize their time in some positive activities and simultaneously enhance their knowledge, ultimately resulting in to leading a life with better quality.

Language:- Should be able to read a lesson fluently, be able to speak about what is read in a logical sequence, about the characters and talk about the moral of lesson or main theme of the lesson & be able to write the summary of the lesson and main theme.
English:- Alphabets (capital & small), their sounds, reading & writing simple words, reading words vocabulary .Action words, name of the things around us. Speaking & writing.
Math:- Should recognize number from 1000 to 100,000 and number expansion till 1000. Place value till 1000, should know word problems of addition with carryover and subtraction with borrow, should know tables till 1 to 12, and should know two digit multiplication and division.

Health Care Program

Nursing Assistant & Word Boy Training and Job Placements in Health Sector .

The Main Objective of The Training of Nursing Assistant is to Try To Strengthen the Foundation of this Field by Creating a Panel of Nursing Assistant Working in the field of Health . There is always a Shortage of Trained candidates for healthcare in Health institutions away from the city .it is an attempt to fill this gap by providing qualified individuals with the basic training they need. This will not only help in strengthening health institutions but will also provide new employment opportunities to the unemployed and semi-educated youth.

There are several adults, especially ladies, who have passed from 8th to 10 std. but are not able to make further progress due to various reasons. The Four -month training covers basic topics such as the human body and introduction the training is given in theoretical information and maximum demonstrations. Attendants are appointed as experts in the nursing field for guidance. The two -month practical training is given in a hospital providing various services.

RRICULUM FEATURES :

3 Basic Training on Communication skills and How to Conduct a Nursing Assistant in a Hospital .
